German carmaker Daimler puts CO2 neutral fleet at core of its sustainability efforts
BERLIN, April 22 (Xinhua) — Daimler published its sustainability report 2019 on Wednesday and reiterated the company's target to have a fully carbon-neutral passenger car fleet by 2039.
“One of the key fields of action at Daimler is to reduce CO2 emissions,” the company stated.
Daimler planned to “significantly increase” the sales of passenger cars with plug-in hybrid drive systems and all-electric drive systems to more than 50 percent by 2030.
At Daimler's flagship brand Mercedes-Benz Cars, the waste level for each vehicle produced had fallen by 25 percent compared with 2013/2014 while energy consumption had dropped by ten percent, the company announced.
The Science Based Targets Initiative by various NGOs as well as the UN had already confirmed in 2019 that Daimler's CO2 targets were in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement, according to Daimler.

Romania’s carmaker Dacia partially resumes production
BUCHAREST, April 21 (Xinhua) — Automobile Dacia, Romania's largest company by turnover, restarted parts of its opeartions on Tuesday on a voluntary basis.
The company's Mechanical and Chassis Plant restarted production with a reduced team, while the Assembly Plant did so in two shifts, and workers in both plants will work on a voluntary basis, Renault Romania Group, Dacia's owner, announced in a press statement.
The two plants, both at Mioveni, some 130 km northwest of the capital of Bucharest, will fully restart production from May 4, according to the company.
The carmaker temporarily suspended production from March 19 until April 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and then decided to further postpone the resumption of work at the beginning of the month.
