@Toyota: A Transparent and Efficient Carbon Removal Marketplace: Our Portfolio Company Nori is Hiring

Based in Seattle, Washington, our portfolio company Nori is providing a transparent, verifiable and high-quality carbon removal marketplace by leveraging blockchain technology to enable suppliers to connect directly with buyers. The company is utilizing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for its carbon removal credit, Nori Removal Tonnes (NRTs). Nori will soon deploy a native NORI token on the Polygon blockchain to act as price discovery for carbon removal. Nori is solving the persistent challenge of double-counting carbon credits by verifying the retirement of carbon — while simultaneously establishing a competitive method for determining the price of a tonne of CO₂.

We announced Toyota Ventures’ investment in Nori in February, and the company is expanding the team. If you are interested in playing a key role in creating a transparent marketplace for carbon removal, check out these exciting opportunities available on the Toyota Ventures job board: Engineering Manager and Head of Brand Marketing and Communications.

Engineering Manager (Seattle, Washington)

Nori is seeking an engineering manager to help scale the team and take the Nori platform to the next level. In this role, experience managing agile software engineering teams is a must, and exposure to Typescript, Node.JS, GraphQL, NoSQL, blockchain, DeFi and/or NFTs is a bonus. You will report to the head of engineering and collaborate closely with the project manager, product managers (one for each side of the marketplace), DevOps and QA. This includes overseeing or working with Nori’s product team, the supply and methodology teams, the demand team, and communications and marketing.

Other responsibilities involve championing sustainable and professional engineering practices, improving team practices such as code reviews, design documents, and automated testing, as well as helping software engineers execute architectural improvements.

In order to be successful in this role, candidates must have 1–3 years of demonstrated experience as a software engineer on an agile team, along with experience managing software development projects and supervising developers. You should also have an understanding of Node.JS and/or Typescript; experience working with EVM blockchain and developing smart contracts, and demonstrated knowledge of Stripe integration or related shopping cart experience. Familiarity with two-sided marketplaces and working in a startup environment are preferred.
