1: 0, 0: 1, 1: 0, 1: 1, 0: 0 – it was very close on a number of pitches in the Bundesliga on this 4th matchday. But surprises? Of course: Bayern give up a point at home against Gladbach, which was really not to be expected after the furious start to the season of the subscription champions. And the games in which there was a lot of “snapping”? The 6:1 of the “Iron” from Berlin on Schalke and the 4:3 victory of Frankfurt at the second promoted Werder Bremen? The only thing that shocked was the amount of the results – our betting community mostly agreed on how the games would go. That’s why it took a good 23 points to win the day. And this time it was secured by a teammate who, with his nickname, shows his reference not to a footballer but to a rock star: “Springsteen”.
“The Boss” scored in eight of nine games, he only missed the draw in Munich. Twice he has predicted the exact result, including the 0-0 draw between Cologne and Stuttgart – “zero numbers” are known to be one of the most difficult game outcomes to predict. Well deserved victory. “BV3011” and “ZeltTent” follow in third place. And who can now be second on the podium? Experienced tippers know the little game: “ZeltTent” because it is better placed in the overall ranking.
Our first monthly winner in the 2022/23 season is “dumb” with 62 points. He can look forward to an Astra functional shirt and a football in the Astra rim design including Jürgen Klopp’s signature. “mumpitz” was not even represented in the top field on the four match days of the month. But by consistently scoring well, he has taken the lead with an average score of 15.5. With 61 points, just one point less, an old acquaintance follows in second place: The “Witness Yeboahs” – he has been a fixture in our Opel Post betting game for years – picked an Astra vacuum flask. As the third best with 60 points, “PrinzPoldi” has secured an Astra key fob and a scented tree in the shape of the Vizor. Next week we will reveal which prizes are up for grabs in September. By the way: The evaluation for the monthly victory starts anew every month – so it’s worth getting in at any time.
“The Boss” makes a giant leap
Speaking of which: 16 daily points were “mumbo-jumbo” enough to take the lead in the overall standings. Which also makes him our first monthly winner. However, the big winner of this ranking is also called “Springsteen”. Thanks to his day’s win, he jumped a whopping 97 places forward and now says hello from 5th place. In other words, he’s lying in wait, on the way to the top. He definitely seems highly motivated. Or as he would say himself: “Everybody has got a hungry heart.”
