On the weekend before last (September 3rd), Holger Kimmes died at the age of 63. The former Opel head of human resources was a member of the Opel management board from 2007 to 2013. Initially, the employment lawyer was responsible for the human resources and social affairs department and held the position of labor director. From January 2010, Holger Kimmes was responsible for human resources and social affairs at Opel and Vauxhall Europe as Vice President Personnel. “On behalf of the entire company, I would like to express our sympathy and condolences to the family,” said Ralph Wangemann, Managing Director Human Resources and Labor Director.
Labor law specialist
Holger Kimmes was born on November 25, 1958 in Wiesbaden. After studying law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and then working as a lawyer in a Wiesbaden law firm, he joined Opel in 1988 as a specialist in labor law. Immediately after German reunification, Kimmes played a key role as HR manager in setting up the Eisenach plant. From 1992 he worked in Rüsselsheim as manager for central industrial relations and worked, among other things, on the agreements at the time to increase competitiveness. In 2013 Holger Kimmes left the company to set up his own company KCC, Kimmes Coaching & Consulting based in Idstein. Holger Kimmes also finds his last resting place here in the Taunus.
