Chevrolet Upgrades Monza Compact Sedan in China

2022-09-13

SHANGHAI – Chevrolet today announced the upgrade of its best-selling nameplate in China, the Monza sporty compact sedan.

Three new variants featuring an all-new exterior and interior design, an upgraded connectivity system and a refreshed transmission are now being offered. With a price range between RMB 94,900 and RMB 108,900, the new Monza is expected to set a new benchmark in the domestic entry-level sedan segment.

Adopting Chevrolet’s new-generation design language, the new Monza has a unique eye-catching X-shaped front face with a classic double honeycomb center grille. Wing-style LED daytime running lights and starburst LED auto-sensing headlights add to the highly recognizable face. New 16-inch aluminum alloy sports wheels contribute a stylish and sporty sense.

The interior comes with a floating dual 10.25-inch layered screen. The full-color LCD instrument panel on the left side presents intelligent driving information while the screen on the right side is tilted 9 degrees toward the driver’s side, putting the driver in the center. In addition, the new Monza comes standard with rear air vents and a rear center headrest, a large trunk with 405 liters of space and 23 storage compartments.

Two powertrain combinations are available. One combines a 1.5T four-cylinder direct injection turbocharged Ecotec engine and a six-speed dual clutch gearbox (DCG) transmission that delivers maximum power of 83 kW/5,600 rpm and maximum torque of 141 Nm/4,400 rpm together with fuel efficiency as low as 5.86 liters/100 km under WLTC conditions. The other powertrain is a 1.3T engine featuring a mild hybrid system consisting of a 48V motor, 48V power battery, power management module and hybrid control unit.

Fifty-three practical configurations, including the all-new Xiaoxue operation system (OS) that supports AR navigation, Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife, also come standard in the new Monza.
