MINSK, October 7. /TASS/. Belarus and Russia finalized an arrangement to allocate over $1.5 bln to Belarus for import substitution projects, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said on Friday.
“We have just recently negotiated the allocation of credit resources with the Russian Federation to finance such [import substitution – TASS] projects amounting to more than $1.5 bln. Seven such projects worth about $330 mln will be launched as early as by the year-end, mainly in mechanical engineering. This is associated with the need to localize foreign components for various classes of automotive equipment,” the Prime Minister said.
The country is facing the task of supporting “technological sovereignty and independence,” especially if taking into account external pressure and sanctions, the Prime Minister noted. “Sanctions applied against Belarus and against the Russian Federation are on an unprecedented scale,” Golovchenko added.
