New recycled polymer from INEOS to be used by Polyclear Group
following successful trials in shrink film applications.
- New INEOS grade offers properties unseen in other recyclate grades for shrink film applications
- Graham MacLennan, INEOS Polymer Business Manager, says, “We are committed to working closely with our customers and delivering innovative technical solutions that bring to market polymers containing increasing proportions of recycled plastic whilst maintaining the quality that they have come to expect from INEOS products.”
A new hybrid polyethylene grade is causing a stir in the packaging industry with major UK player, The Polyclear Group, working alongside INEOS to deliver novel solutions to shrink film applications. The new polymer is a ready-to-use hybrid low density polyethylene (LDPE) compound containing 60% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and supplied in a pellet form. It is part of a range of polymers (Recycl-IN) from INEOS, that incorporates recycled polymer (PCR) replacing virgin polymers.
INEOS has applied its extensive product and technical expertise from across its European operations to deliver a range of Recycl-IN grades for packaging and pallet wrapping that exhibit the same characteristics as those of virgin polymers. These new polymers support a more sustainable and circular approach, directing plastic waste from landfill back into valuable polymer products.
Graham MacLennan, INEOS Polymer Business Manager, says, “We are committed to working closely with our customers and delivering innovative technical solutions that bring to market polymers containing increasing proportions of recycled plastic whilst maintaining the quality that they have come to expect from INEOS products.”
The Polyclear Group’s Managing Director, Andy Mehta, says, “The film properties we have witnessed so far are unlike those achieved with ordinary recyclates. They offer our customers the confidence they need with their packaging requirements. We see INEOS as a trusted industrial partner, being at the forefront of innovation in developing hybrids and in their wholehearted commitment to environmental improvements.”
One of the beneficiaries of the partnership between Polyclear and INEOS to confirm is Polythene Solutions Ltd. Mark Stubbs, their Managing Director, says, “INEOS’ new grade outshines all other PCR materials on the market, receiving universal customer approval.”
INEOS is committed to delivering a sustainable future, to achieving Net Zero in its operations and bringing solutions to the market that enable others in the supply chain to lower their carbon footprints too. The Recycl-IN portfolio of hybrid grades of polymers also helps its customers to achieve emission reductions.
