- Since September 2021, Grammer suppliers all over the world have been planting one tree for every new order
- So far, around 350 “Nomination Trees” have been planted, with firm commitments received for a further 45
- Special highlight: 250 trees in Querétaro, Mexico
Grammer AG, October 13, 2022 – September marked the first anniversary of the launch of Grammer AG’s “Nomination Tree” project. And it is already evident that the idea developed by the supply chain team at the internationally positioned company is as successful as it is simple: For every new order placed, suppliers are required to plant a Nomination Tree. Last year, around 350 trees were planted, including 250 alone in a showcase project at Grammer’s Querétaro site in Mexico. The “Grammer Forest” that is being created in this way all around the world filters carbon out of the air and actively improves the carbon footprint, thus marking a further step on Grammer’s path forward to becoming a “Green Company”. Grammer has set itself the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030.
“I would like to thank our employees and suppliers around the world for the success of the Nomination Tree project,” says Jens Öhlenschläger, Spokesman of Grammer AG’s Executive Board. “Thanks to this clever idea from our supply chain team, we’re displaying impressive continuity when it comes to climate action: Every new order automatically results in a new tree being planted that will grow and do good for the environment for decades to come. This commitment to less carbon is obviously a lot more than merely symbolic, and we look forward to other companies following our lead.”
350 Nomination Trees in a single year
Through the Nomination Trees, every business win by a Grammer supplier also marks a victory when it comes to reducing carbon emissions. Last year saw 350 “small victories”, with firm commitments received for a further 45 trees. They form further additional blocks in Grammer AG’s “Green Company” initiative, which aims to halve the company’s carbon emissions worldwide by 2030.
Highlight project: Reforestation in Querétaro, Mexico
The reforestation of the Parque Bicentenario in Querétaro, Mexico, is making a particularly large contribution in this respect. In August 2022, Grammer employees planted 250 new trees here together with their families and representatives from Dow, setting an impressive example for sustainability.
