- REODRIN™, the world’s first bio-attributed epichlorohydrin made by INEOS Inovyn, from circular glycerine, is ISCC PLUS-certified as of 26 October 2022.
- ISCC is a leading global certification system striving to implement environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production and use of biomass in global supply chains.
- With this certification, INEOS Inovyn makes it easier for customers to benefit from REODRIN™’s advantages: greenhouse gas savings of almost 70%; made from 100% circular glycerine; and significant reduction in water use, land use and eco impact.
REODRIN™’s reputation as a game-changer on the epichlorohydrin market has just been taken to the next level with a new ISCC PLUS certification. This new certification is expected to enable a smooth and far-reaching deployment of the mass-balance concept along the value chain. With the new certificate, INEOS Inovyn also becomes the first ISCC PLUS-certified epichlorohydrin producer.
“This is a very important step in our quest to make REODRIN™ more widely available to the market. We continuously monitor market trends and listen to both our customers and suppliers, and it all led us to the same conclusion: the ISCC PLUS certification enables us to diversify our portfolio whilst allowing customers to benefit from REODRIN™’s advantages,” says Arnaud Valenduc, Business Director of INEOS Inovyn.
REODRIN™ has multiple strengths that have been drawing attention ever since the product’s launch in December 2021: It enables greenhouse gas saving of almost 70% compared to fossil-based epichlorohydrin; it is manufactured from 100% bio-circular, second generation glycerine; and it significantly reduces water intake, land use and the overall ecological impact of production.
The first bio-attributed epichlorohydrin
Epichlorohydrin is widely used in industry sectors ranging from wind-turbine composite production to wastewater treatment and lightweight coatings for electric vehicles, making it an essential building block of society. By becoming the first and only producer of ISCC PLUS certified bio-attributed epichlorohydrin, INEOS Inovyn further establishes its status as an industry leader on the path to carbon neutrality.
Every 2,000 tonnes of REODRIN™ replacing fossil-based epichlorohydrin is equivalent to a reduction of the CO2 emissions of 1,000 people; or the same as taking 4,200 cars off the road; or the CO2 absorption of 300,000 trees.
