Opel makes the triple perfect: After the Corsa-e 2020 and the Mokka-e last year, the new Astra gets the “Golden Steering Wheel 2022”. Sports stars Gina Lückenkemper, Niklas Kaul and Jürgen Klopp were among the first to congratulate them – all three of them are already keen on the Astra.
Gina Lückenkemper: “Wow, what a sprint!”
“He looks almost as sporty as me!” says the “fastest woman in Europe”. Gina Lückenkemper has earned the nickname, at least since she sensationally won the gold medal over 100 meters sprint at this year’s European Athletics Championships in Munich. She is currently preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. On the way there, they are accompanied by the Opel Astra as a plug-in hybrid. “Wow, what a sprint!” – the immediately available torque in electric mode is just what the 25-year-old likes. She also likes the cockpit: “Nice and tidy. No frills. Just what you need.”
Niklas Kaul: “A champion in all disciplines.”
“I like it when you’re a champion in many disciplines,” Niklas Kaul comments on winning the prestigious award for the Astra. The 24-year-old knows only too well that you can only win if you are successful in many disciplines. The man from Mainz is the youngest world champion in the history of the decathlon, in August he won the European title as the “king of athletes”. He is currently driving the Astra Sports Tourer. The large trunk is just right for his sports equipment, which includes 15 pairs of shoes, among other things: “For each discipline at least one pair – depending on the weather conditions several per sport.”
Jürgen Klopp: “Well done, Opel!”
“Wow, there it is!” At the end of August, Jürgen Klopp received his new Astra in carbon black in Liverpool. Since then, the two-time “World Coach of the Year” has commuted between home, the training ground and the stadium in the plug-in hybrid. “My entry into electromobility. I drive electric now – exciting,” said the 55-year-old happily during his first drive in the Opel part-time electric vehicle, which was accompanied by an Opel camera team. And the brand ambassador sent his congratulations to Rüsselsheim: “Well done, Opel! And congratulations on the Golden Steering Wheel.”
