The year 2022 is all about the Opel Astra. It starts in spring with press test drives with highly efficient combustion engines and plug-in hybrids on the Portuguese Riviera. It is now clear: From next spring, the winner of the “Golden Steering Wheel 2022” can also be ordered as a battery-electric Astra Electric. And with the Astra Sports Tourer Electric, the first all-electric station wagon from a German manufacturer is coming onto the market. Opel is consistently continuing its electrification offensive.

Small but effective: the Opel Rocks-e shows how versatile it is during its operations on the Rüsselsheim factory premises. Long range, zero emissions, short refueling stops: The Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN is the first hydrogen LCV on Germany’s roads. During a test drive, Dr. Lars Peter Thiesen, head of the hydrogen and fuel cell introduction strategy, to the many years of hydrogen expertise in the company. As early as 2000, Opel presented the HydroGen 1, developed on the basis of a Zafira.

In September, the Thuringian plant celebrates its 30th birthday: “Bestsellers are produced in Eisenach in first-class, proverbial Eisenach quality,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl during the ceremony. Thousands of visitors took advantage of the “Open Day” to experience the fascination of automobile production up close. Ralf Möller, for example, presented emu feathers – which play an important role during the painting process.
