Vincenzo Pensa – Director of Information Systems and Innovation and Head of the ACI Digital Transition – received the Alfredo Gatti Special Award, as CIO engaged in the Green Economy through the development of the End-of-Life Tires (ELT) Management System.

“The management system for end-of-life tires from end-of-life vehicles – stated Pensa – represents an exemplary model of synergy between business, consumers and the Public Administration, which translates into a winning project for the environment and the community, able to transform tires that have reached the end of their use at the heart of a virtuous industrial process, which becomes a source of new value, in the context of a circular and sustainable economy and mobility”.

“Every year – recalled Pensa, president of the ELT Committee – by hoarding a small contribution paid by citizens when purchasing a new vehicle, tens of thousands of tons of end-of-life tires are transformed into asphalt, road substrates, sports flooring , sound-absorbing panels for building and street furniture”.

The prestigious award was assigned to Pensa by the Italian section of Cionet Italia – the first business community of CIOs and Digital Leaders of Top and Medium Large companies, with over 6000 members in Europe and Latin America – as part of the eleventh Cionet Award, a contest aimed at rewarding 5 Italian CIOs who have carried out projects of value for their organizations, in terms of competitiveness and innovation.
