As Praga prepares to ship six new R1s to the USA purchased in December, the Czech racer has picked up its first silverware of the year at Sebring International Raceway.
The Praga R1 run by Fellner Motorsport and with Danny van Dongen behind the wheel joined a mixed grid of 60 cars, including Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the latest Porsche 991 and 992 Cup cars, and Ligier LMP4, at PBOC Motorsports Club’s WinterFest on 21st and 22nd January.
After setting the fastest lap in qualifying, Danny led Race 1 from start to the finish, keeping the higher horsepower competitors at bay, and taking the race win. In Race 2, Danny continued to work hard to keep ahead of the grid and repeated the same result, taking a second Sebring chequered flag for the R1.
The next outing for Fellner Motorsport and Danny will be testing this weekend – 28th and 29th January – at the Miami Concours Club.
Australia: Ricky Capo nears lap record at Phillip Island
Praga Racing ANZ and lead driver Ricky Capo have begun pre-season preparation ahead of the Australian Prototype Series 2023.
During two days of testing at Phillip Island Circuit, Ricky and the R1 are continuing to improve on lap times, setting a fastest lap of 1 minute 26 seconds of the Grand Prix circuit, not far off the current lap record of 1.24.2215 set by a Reynard 94D.
The next outing for Ricky and the R1 will be at the Adelaide Motoring Festival on 24th to 25th March, where they will take on the time trial event on the streets of Adelaide, before heading back to Phillip Island for Round 1 of the Australian Prototype Series on 29th and 30th April.
