Migros, LOXO, and Schindler pilot innovative and sustainable delivery service
(IN BRIEF) Swiss companies Migros, LOXO and Schindler are collaborating on a revolutionary delivery service, “Migronomous”, using a self-driving electric vehicle. Starting February 8, 2023, Schindler employees in Ebikon can place orders with Migros online and have them delivered directly to the Schindler campus. The vehicle, called “LOXO Alpha,” was designed and built entirely in Switzerland, making it the first self-driving delivery vehicle on Swiss roads. It travels emission-free and can transport up to 64 shopping bags at a maximum speed of 30 km/h. During the pilot phase, the vehicle will make daily trips from Monday to Friday, gradually becoming more independent until it is fully automated. Migronomous has the potential to be a game-changer in the on-demand delivery industry.
(PRESS RELEASE) EBIKON, Switzerland, 8-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Schindler Group (SWX: SCHP), a Swiss multinational company active in the escalators, moving walkways, and elevators markets worldwide, announces that it has joined forces with Migros and startup LOXO to launch a groundbreaking delivery service, “Migronomous,” using a self-driving, electric vehicle. Starting on February 8, 2023, employees at Schindler’s Ebikon campus can place orders with Migros online and have them delivered directly to their workplace. This pilot project represents a major milestone in the growth of the on-demand delivery industry.
The “LOXO Alpha,” the self-driving delivery vehicle at the heart of the project, was designed and built entirely in Switzerland. It is the first self-driving delivery vehicle on Swiss roads, and it travels emission-free, powered by an electric motor. The vehicle can transport up to 64 shopping bags and has a maximum speed of 30 km/h, making it a convenient and efficient delivery solution.
In the initial phase of the pilot project, the “LOXO Alpha” will make daily trips between the Migros store and the Schindler campus from Monday to Friday. Over the course of the project, the vehicle will gradually become more independent, with the goal of reaching full automation by the end of the pilot phase.
The increasing demand for online orders has put a strain on traditional delivery methods. Migronomous is poised to play a valuable role in the on-demand delivery industry by offering a sustainable, efficient, and innovative solution. The collaboration between Migros, LOXO, and Schindler is a testament to the cutting-edge technology and creativity that is driving the Swiss startup scene.
