Downgraded 2023 forecast

120,000 new passenger cars and 25,000 new vans is the Bilimportørenes Landsforening’s new 2023 forecast after the board on 22 March discussed the total market and powertrain mix after a steep start to the year.

– The market is characterized by a large degree of uncertainty and it is therefore more demanding than normal to estimate future developments in the market, says Erik Andresen, director of the National Association of Bilimportørens.

The industry and the value chains in the industry are characterized by great uncertainty. The uncertainty relates in particular to when sales of new cars will return to normal market levels, as well as the general economic situation in Norway.

-The production problems with a shortage of semiconductors are diminishing, but there are still component challenges that will affect production going forward.

Fortunately, the used car market is good and access to workshops is satisfactory for most people.

The forecast is the average of the car brands represented on the board of BIL and is as follows:

Passenger cars                                        120,000

Vans                                               25,000

Driveline mix passenger cars:            90% electric

Driveline mix vans:                 40% electric

Heavy vehicles over 16 tonnes:     4,400 – 4,500
