SsangYong Motor Company has changed its company name to KG Mobility (www.kg-mobility.com)in the first step towards becoming a new generation full mobility business.
SsangYong confirmed the change of its corporate name to KG Mobility at the shareholders meeting held at the company’s headquarters in Pyeongtaek today (March 22nd, 2023), attended by CEO Jeong Yong-Won, executives, employees and shareholders.
The business was founded in January 1954 as the automotive manufacturer, Ha Dong-hwan. With a history going back 70 years, it went on to become Korea’s oldest vehicle producer while also becoming the country’s best-know maker of SUVs. The name changed to Dong-A Motors in 1977, SsangYong Motor in 1988, and now KG Mobility in 2023.
The word ‘mobility’ is not limited to traditional automobile manufacturing and sales, and expresses the development and application of future-oriented technologies such as electrification, autonomous driving and connectivity, and the provision of mobility services based on them.
Looking to the future, KG Mobility plans to focus on new mobility technologies such as EV-dedicated platforms, SDV (software defined vehicles), autonomous vehicles and AI in line with the paradigm shift now impacting the global automobile industry.
To launch this new direction, the company has chosen this month’s Seoul Mobility Show as the platform from which to announce its change to a mobility company, while also showcasing its new electric Torres EVX as well as several new concept vehicles including the KR10, O100 and F100.
