Warning strike record in car dealerships and garages

Frankfurt am Main – More than 20,000 employees took part in campaigns in the first wave of warning strikes in the round of collective bargaining for vehicle workshops and car dealerships. IG Metall thus mobilized more members than ever before. In the second round of negotiations, however, the employers have so far shown little willingness to talk.

“There is tremendous pressure in the boiler. Our colleagues feel cheated and betrayed. If employers don’t want to hit the wall, they must finally put something tangible on the negotiating table,” demands Ralf Kutzner, executive board member of IG Metall. The trade union is demanding 8.5 percent more money for 12 months for its members in the motor vehicle trade and trade, an inflation compensation premium as a social component and disproportionately higher training allowances.

At the 2nd collective bargaining in Lower Saxony last Monday, the employers only put an inadequate offer on the table. “Employers have not yet understood that they have to make their industry future-proof in view of the shortage of skilled workers in the working conditions,” said Kutzner.

Negotiations continue in the collective bargaining areas, as do the warning strikes. The next collective bargaining will be held by IG Metall on Friday in Leinfelden-Echterdingen (Baden-Württemberg).
