ACI and Carabinieri Biodiversity: “Every pilot a tree”

100 trees to offset the emissions of the Guarcino – Campocatino (Frosinone) and Lake Montefiascone (Viterbo) tenders

With the “Every pilot a tree” project, the ACI and the Arma dei Carabinieri – CC Biodiversity Group intend to contribute to offsetting the CO2 emissions produced by the sports competitions that take place every year on the national territory. The initiative, which will be inaugurated during the two competitions of Guarcino and Lago Montefiascone, scheduled for 20 May and 3 June respectively, provides for the planting of 100 trees (50 for each competition) donated by the Carabinieri Forestali in the areas indicated by the Municipalities to offset the emissions produced by racing cars.

“The goal is to make a concrete contribution to spreading the culture of sustainability in the automotive sports field. We are aware that the sector has an important impact on the environment which, through this initiative, we intend to help offset. The project also aims to encourage, also through our territorial delegations and sporting events, to take care of the environment in the belief that every institution has the duty to accompany cultural processes for the protection of our planet”, declares the president of the ICA, Angelo Sticchi Damiani.

It is estimated that the CO2 produced by racing cars in a race weekend would be absorbed in a month by the trees planted in a year and in four years the same result would be obtained in a week, thus guaranteeing a significant reduction of carbon dioxide. Once the competitions are over, the trees will continue to play their role for the benefit of the territories and communities.

“Every driver a tree” was born from a project of the ACI Autostoriche Commission for the defense of the environment in favor of carbon neutrality and is created in collaboration with the Arma dei Carabinieri, the Municipalities and the organizers of the sports competitions participating in the initiative , and provides for the planting of a tree for each car that takes part in the race.

The initiative falls within the terms of a memorandum of understanding between the ACI and the Arma dei Carabinieri signed in 2020 which provides, among other things, for the promotion of initiatives in favor of young people in terms of road safety.
