What a final! The Bavarians managed to steal the title they thought was certain from Dortmund. And as much as the neutral fans of the Bundesliga would have liked to see another champion than Munich, from a sporting point of view it has to be acknowledged: The Black and Yellows couldn’t get their nerves under control in their 2-2 win against Mainz, but Bayern kept theirs , got back on their feet after Cologne’s late equalizer and scored the 2-1 winner. And that’s what made the difference in the end. So chapeau, and apart from that, the old saying is still valid: whoever tops the table after 34 matchdays is a deserved champion.
In the Opel Post betting game, on the other hand, our frontrunner didn’t let anything be taken away from him in the last few meters. On the contrary: with 15 points at the end of the day, “oregin” is eight points ahead of “jr” when he crosses the finish line. The newly crowned betting king hit only imprecisely in the decisive games. Not only that Dortmund would have become champions with a win over Mainz, but also the no less exciting relegation duels would have ended very differently with his tips. He no longer believed Bochum could do anything against Leverkusen – in fact, they got their heads out of the noose with an impressive 3-0 win. And for Stuttgart, “Oregon” believed in a happy ending with a win against Hoffenheim. In real life they only played 1:1 – and now they have to be relegated.
“Fritz1964” wins in May
1st prize: “Gansbach”
2nd prize: “Ralle_on”
3rd prize: “Ioannis_T”
The last month’s winner of our Opel Post betting game is called “Fritz1964”. He scored a total of 64 points on matchdays 31 to 34, and on matchday 33 he was even the winner of the day with 21 points. On average, 16 points per game day was enough for him. A 50 euro voucher is waiting for him – valid for the entire range, redeemable at www.opel-collection.com. The choice of the second and third turns out to be curious. Eleven tipsters collected exactly 59 points in the four rounds of the merry month of May – what else can you think of? Unless, of course, the overall ranking has to be decisive. And that’s where “Bealuder” is in the lead, who just barely missed the podium in the overall standings – with 426 points he ended up in 4th place. As the second monthly winner in May, he can look forward to a 20-euro voucher. “Bronze” goes to “Giller13”, who is listed with 410 points in the overall ranking. A jump-off, as close as in the real Bundesliga – because “DasOrakel” finished with 409 points, “Gote08” with 408. For his hard-fought third place, “Giller13” received a high-quality soccer ball with an Astra rim design, Jürgen Klopp -Signature and Opel logo.
“Gansbach” wins the day
Of course there is also a daily winner on this 34th match day. His name is “Gansbach” because he has more points in the overall standings than “Ralle_on”, who also scored 22 points. Both had, like almost everyone, guessed the Dortmund champions. Interesting: Both took the lead because they believed that the Hertha team from Berlin, who had long since been relegated, could win in Wolfsburg.
Third place goes to “Ioannis_T” because it is better off in the overall standings than “Opel-X”, who also scored 20 points. “Ioannis_T” deserves an honorable mention simply because he tended to correctly predict the outcome of the final duels, unlikely as they were.
