Race 6
He was the man to beat in Zandvoort: Within 24 hours, Dutchman Larry ten Voorde celebrated his second victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. On the Formula 1 racetrack on the Dutch North Sea coast, the GP Elite driver again went head-to-head with Porsche Junior Bastian Buus – repeating his feat from the previous day. Competing for Allied-Racing, the Dane again had to settle for second place. “I took note of exactly where Bastian attacked yesterday. At these places I concentrated on fending him off,” revealed ten Voorde. This strategy worked immediately at the start – and again when the field took off for a second time after a race interruption, the two-time champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland kept his Danish rival at bay. “My family is here and my GP Elite team has a lot of guests – the fact I can bring home two wins in one weekend is just perfect for them,” said a thrilled ten Voorde. In the overall standings, the 26-year-old from the Netherlands extended his lead to 28 points ahead of the new second overall, Briton Harry King.
“Larry made no mistakes – and, although my race was perfect, I had no real chance to get past him,” stated Bastian Buus, who was beaten over the finish line by just 0.443 seconds. “The positive thing about this weekend for me is that I’m back among the frontrunners after a somewhat bumpy start to the season.” After six of 16 races, the Porsche Junior ranks fourth in the standings and has slashed the gap to Harry King and Loek Hartog in front of him.
Also resuming their duel from Saturday, UK driver Harry King (Allied-Racing) and Robert de Haan (HRT Performance) battled for third place. This time, however, the Dutchman, who was only competing for the second time in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, came out on top. The 17-year-old won the Rookies classification ahead of Vincent Andronaco (Allied-Racing) from Germany, the best-placed driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool. Australian Harri Jones (Scherer Sport PHX) rounded off the rookie podium.
The ProAm category yielded another double victory: In a repeat of the previous day’s results, Sören Spreng (GP Elite) from Germany clinched victory in this classification in race two of the weekend. Second and third place went to Michael Essmann (CarTech Motorsport Bonk) and the Bulgarian Georgi Donchev (ProfilDoors by Huber Racing).
“We witnessed two fantastic races in perfect weather and with a terrific crowd. Congratulations to Larry ten Voorde and his GP Elite squad for their double victory at their home race. I’m also proud of our Talent Pool drivers, who put in strong drives. On Saturday, Alexander Fach was rewarded with sixth place, with Vincent Andronaco finishing fifth overall on Sunday,” commented Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
The two Zandvoort races can be viewed in full length and as a highlight wrap-up on the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland’s YouTube channel. The next doubleheader round of the one-make cup with the 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be contested at the Nürburgring (4 to 6 August 2023) with races 7 and 8 of the season.

Race 5
Home win for Larry ten Voorde and his Amsterdam-based team GP Elite: the Dutchman secured victory at race five of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Porsche Junior Bastian Buus from Denmark crossed the finish line second ahead of his British Allied-Racing teammate Harry King. Another Dutchman caused a sensation at the race: Just two days after his 16th birthday, Robert de Haan achieved fourth place at his debut in the one-make cup with the 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
“Admittedly, I had a bit of luck,” acknowledged Larry ten Voorde after adding to his record with his 25th victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Taking up the race from pole position, the Dutchman actually lost the lead to Porsche Junior Bastian Buus after just a few corners. However, the race was red-flagged seconds later to allow several vehicles to be salvaged after a collision.
Bad luck for Buus: After the race restarted, according to the rules, the 20-year-old Dane had to line up right behind ten Voorde again. And this time, the two-time champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland was not going to be taken by surprise. “Bastian made another attempt but this time I was ready for it,” said ten Voorde after the race on the Formula 1 circuit on the North Sea coast. “It’s a great feeling to win my home race in front of so many Dutch fans – and for GP Elite too.” With his victory, Larry ten Voorde takes the series lead from his teammate Loek Hartog, who finished fifth.
New Chance for Buus
“The interruption of the race was understandable but obviously unfortunate for me – but that’s how it goes in motor racing and I can live with that. I start tomorrow’s race on the front grid row next to Larry again so I get another chance,” states Buus as he focuses on the second race of the weekend which gets underway on Sunday at 11.25 am.
A gripping duel similar to ten Voorde and Buus’s battle for victory unfolded between Harry King and Robert de Haan for third place. “Because of the fight with Robert, I initially lost contact with Larry and Bastian. By the time I managed to shake him off, the two were already out of reach. But I’m okay with third place, it’s at least one position better than my grid position,” commented King. The UK driver competes for the German team Allied-Racing.
Despite finishing behind King, Robert de Haan was the hero of the day. At barely 16 years old, this is the first race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland for the Dutchman, who usually contests the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. Stepping in for the German Kai Pfister in the 911 fielded by the HRT Performance squad, de Haan was already the fastest rookie in qualifying. Clinching fourth place in the race, he won the category for cup newcomers ahead of Belgium’s Ghislain Cordeel (GP Elite) and Janne Stiak (ID Racing) from Germany.
Crossing the finish line in sixth place overall, Alexander Fach (FACH AUTO TECH) from Switzerland was the best-placed driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool. Victory in the ProAm category went to Sören Spreng, who also competes for GP Elite. The German finished just ahead of Ahmad Alshehab from Kuwait (CarTech Motorsport Bonk). His German teammate Michael Essmann occupied the third step of the ProAm podium.

Preview
This coming weekend (23-25 June 2023), the paddock of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will be set up on the Dutch North Sea coast. The one-make series with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will contest races five and six of the season as part of the DTM support programme on the Circuit Zandvoort. For overall leader Loek Hartog, this circuit, which also hosts Formula 1, is almost like a second home.
The upcoming round three of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at the Circuit Zandvoort will be a home race for the four Dutch drivers in the series. “I live less than 20 kilometres from Zandvoort and I’m at the racetrack almost every week,” states Loek Hartog. The 20-year-old has won two races so far this season in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fielded by the GP Elite team and is currently leading the driver’s standings. “I head to Zandvoort at the top of the leaderboard so everyone is chasing me. The team also expects over 100 guests but I won’t let that affect me – my nerves are pretty strong,” grins the nearly two metres tall racer.
One of Hartog’s arch-rivals is his teammate Larry ten Voorde, who trails Hartog by just five points. “Zandvoort is about a two-hour drive away from where I live,” explains the two-time Carrera Cup champion from Enschede. “Still, the Zandvoort rounds are a home race for me, too. I’ve won several races on this circuit. One or two more wins wouldn’t be bad.”
Last season, ten Voorde won one of the two Zandvoort races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. The second victory went to Laurin Heinrich. The German, who came up through the ranks from the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool, also competes at Zandvoort this coming weekend – but this time at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the DTM.
For many drivers, the Dutch Formula 1 circuit with its unique banked turns is a favourite. Uncharacteristically, the 4.259-kilometre course offers many chances to overtake. Sand on the track and strong winds at times pose a special challenge. “We tested in Zandvoort before the race. I think I’m ideally prepared,” explains Harry King. Driving for the German team Allied-Racing, the Englishman travels to the holiday resort near Amsterdam ranking third in the points.
“There’s always a very special atmosphere in Zandvoort. With the crowds in a holiday mood and the location of the racetrack in the middle of the dunes – it’ll definitely be a great weekend. I’m curious to see whether Loek Hartog and GP Elite will be able to use their home advantage,” says Hurui Issak, Project Manager Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Classes for Rookies and ProAm, supporting youngsters with the talent pool
In addition to the driver and team rankings, points are also awarded in the Rookies and ProAm categories of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Among the newcomers, ten talented youngsters from six countries pit themselves against each other. Theo Oeverhaus from CarTech Bonk Motorsport currently leads the Rookies classification. Ranking fourth overall in the driver’s standings, the German is also the best-placed driver from the Talent Pool. Competing for the ProfilDoors by Huber Racing squad, Georgi Donchev from Bulgaria is currently first in the ProAm classification.

As usual, the two Zandvoort races will be streamed live on the Porsche Motorsport Hub (https://motorsports.porsche.com/germany/de/category/carreracup) as well as on the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland’s YouTube channel, both with English commentary.
