On www.aci.it, the June 2023 issue of “Auto-Trend” is online, the monthly bulletin with the statistical analysis on the market trend for new and used vehicles, created by the Automobile Club of Italy on data from the Public Automobile Register. Below are some of the most interesting data contained in the new issue.
CHANGES OF OWNERSHIP: VEHICLES +5.2% – CARS +9.5%, – MOTORCYCLES -7.6%
There was also an increase (+9.5%) in the transfer of ownership of cars purified from mini-transfers (temporary transfers in the name of the dealer pending resale to the end customer). Growth that rises to 12.1% al
gross of mini-transfers: 417,095 formalities against 372,214 in June 2022. This is thanks to the increase (+15.9%) in mini-transfers: 174,253 mini-transfers compared to 150,391 in June 2022.
Motorcycle transfers, net of mini-transfers, decreased (-7.6%) (64,058 files against 69,318 in June 2022).
Vehicles in general, net of mini-transfers, recorded an increase of 5.2% compared to June 2022. Overall, transfers of ownership, net of the distorting effect of mini-transfers, amounted to 242,842 for cars alone and 345,274 for all vehicles (in June 2022 they were, respectively, 221,823 and 328,278).
In June 2023, for every 100 new cars, 168 used cars were sold; in the first half of the year, 174.
The January-June 2023 period closed with increases of 6.6% for cars and 4.4% for all vehicles, against a decrease of 3.3% for motorcycles.
RADIATION: -12.9% (DEMOLITIONS -16.2%)
In June – compared to the same month in 2022 – the radiation of cars returned to the negative sign: the decrease was 12.9%. Decrease mainly determined by the decrease in demolitions (-16.2%): 86,067 practices against 98,771 in June 2022.
The unit replacement rate was 0.59 in June (59 were decommissioned for every 100 new cars) and 0.60 in the first six months of the year.
There is also a monthly contraction for motorcycle cancellations, with a negative change of 14.8% and 10,228 motorcycles canceled against 12,001 in June 2022.
Finally, for vehicles in general, a drop of 12.8% was detected: 105,224 radiations compared to 120,603 in June last year.
In the first half of 2023, decreases of 10.1% for passenger cars and 9.2% for all vehicles were observed, against a growth of 0.6% for motorcycles.
