WOLFSBURG (GERMANY), 17 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Volkswagen will open a “software” development center in Lisbon this year with 300 Information Technology (IT) specialists, including computer engineers, web programmers and UX designers.

In particular, these professionals will be responsible for the development of cloud-based ‘software’ solutions for further digitalization of the corporate processes of the Volkswagen IT division and MAN Truck & Bus, the company said in a statement.

The Head of Information of the German corporation, Martin Hofmann, explained that Volkswagen wants to hire IT specialists “highly” qualified and motivated in the Portuguese country. “Our new ‘software’ development center in Lisbon will be the decisive step,” he said.

For his part, Hofmann’s counterpart in MAN, Stephan Fingerling, said that, “little by little”, the company moves away from being a manufacturer of industrial vehicles to become a provider of sustainable and intelligent transport solutions.
