Nissan Formula E Team drivers Norman Nato and Sacha Fenestraz have been teaching kids about the wonderful world of electric vehicles in Nissan’s exciting new EV School series.
With the next generation of drivers set to go electric, the dynamic duo explain how technology created by Nissan for their Formula E cars will be seen in road cars of the future.
During the series, the pair were also grilled by a group of children about their own experiences behind the wheel, as well as their views on electric vehicles, before putting youngsters through their paces in mini electric Nissan Ariyas.
The drivers then hosted a classroom discussion on what Formula E would be like in the future, with children predicting that racing cars will float, go twice as fast and be so safe that anyone could drive them (watch the video here).
The series launch follows the release of global research findings from One Poll, where 6,000 kids from around the world, aged 6 to 10, were asked what they think motorsport will look like in 2043. The results revealed that racing cars of the future will be able to fly, change colour and drive equally as fast on snow or ice. Meanwhile 76% of youngsters believe that robots will take over the world and eventually replace racing drivers behind the wheel.
Norman Nato said: “It’s important to teach kids about the future and all of them will be driving electric vehicles when they grow up. Everything we develop in our Formula E cars is designed to make a better tomorrow. We work hard on creating technology that becomes available in electric road cars and it’s exciting for me to be at the forefront of innovation.’’
Sacha Fenestraz said: “The future of Formula E is going to be extremely exciting and it’s great to hear what the next generation of drivers think it will look like. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next 20 to 30 years, maybe we’ll be able to race in flying cas, but I hope robot drivers don’t replace us!”
