Sticchi Damiani: “The updating of the legislation on historic motoring cannot be postponed. We must distinguish truly historic cars from merely old ones.”
The Automobile Club of Italy and ACI Storico are protagonists at “Auto e Moto d’Epoca”, scheduled from today until Sunday 29 October at the Bologna Fair.
Visitors to the fair will be amazed in pavilion 31, where ACI and ACI Storico have set up an exclusive exhibition dedicated to the Targa Florio and the cars that fueled its legend. As always, there will be many events, meetings and presentations for the entire duration of the event.
Among the novelties of the ACI stand, five futuristic driving simulators stand out and a space dedicated to the three new magazines published by the Automobile Club of Italy: L’Automobile, L’Automobile Classica and YoungClassic.
“The world of historic motoring needs new legislation in step with the times – declared the President of the ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani in the inaugural ceremony of the event – because the Highway Code has been anachronistically at a standstill for 31 years regarding regularization of this sector, within which a monopoly regime has been created that we must overcome to give a future to our tradition, for the benefit of enthusiasts and operators.”
“For intellectual honesty – continued Sticchi Damiani – we must distinguish truly historic vehicles from those that are merely old, polluting and unsafe. The Safeguard List drawn up by ACI Storico together with the most accredited interlocutors in this world represents an objective identification tool already available today to institutions, local authorities, collectors and the economic world of historic motoring”.
