Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH (Volkswagen Saxony) is reorganizing its company management as part of its transformation process to become the largest competence center for e-mobility in Europe, and will henceforth be managed by four managing directors. As a member of the Volkswagen brand group for “e-Mobility,” Thomas Ulbrich will immediately assume the role of spokesperson on the management team of Volkswagen Saxony in addition. Reinhard de Vries will transfer from Wolfsburg to Zwickau, where he will be the new Managing Director for Technology & Logistics. Siegfried Fiebig will transfer to Wolfsburg after four successful years in Saxony, and will be responsible for new activities within the Volkswagen brand. The new management team will retain two of its existing members, Dirk Coers, HR and Organization, and Kai Siedlatzek, Finance and Controlling.

Thomas Ulbrich (51) holds a degree in Automotive Engineering and has worked for the Volkswagen Group since 1989. In 1996, he became head of Logistics at FAW-Volkswagen in China. After holding posts in Wolfsburg and Emden, he transferred to Wolfsburg in 2001 as a technical managing director and spokesperson for the management board of Auto 5000. In 2008, he was appointed head of production at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and, in 2010, Technical Executive Vice President of Shanghai Volkswagen in China. From April 2014 to January 2018, Ulbrich served as a member of the Volkswagen brand group for the “Production and Logistics” division. With effect from February 1, 2018, Thomas Ulbrich was appointed a member of the Volkswagen brand group for the newly created “e-Mobility” management division. From April 5, 2018, he will also step into the role of Managing Director and Spokesperson at Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH, in addition to his role on the board.

His appointment will be accompanied by changes to the supervisory board of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH, which until now has been managed by Thomas Ulbrich. The new Chair of the Supervisory Board at Volkswagen Saxony is Andreas Tostmann, with immediate effect. Andreas Tostmann (55) has worked for the Volkswagen Group since 1990, and was appointed Head of Production and Logistics for the Volkswagen brand at the beginning of February. He previously held the same position at SEAT.

Reinhard de Vries (56) has a degree in Business Administration and is an expert in logistics. He has worked for Volkswagen since 1986. In 1998, he took over Program Planning and Vehicle Management at the Volkswagen plant in Emden. In 2001, he was entrusted with the management of Logistics and Production Control in Emden. He gathered experience abroad as a production manager in Curitiba (Brazil) and logistics manager in Bratislava (Slovakia). In 2005, de Vries returned to Germany, where he was responsible for Plant Logistics at the Braunschweig plant. Since 2010, de Vries has worked in Wolfsburg, where he managed the Industrial Engineering, Plant Logistics and Production Control and Logistics divisions for the Volkswagen brand, in that order. The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH has appointed Reinhard de Vries as the new Managing Director of Technology and Logistics in Zwickau with effect from April 5, 2018.

Siegfried Fiebig (63) has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and started his career at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg in 1978. After holding various positions in the Salzgitter, Emden and Wolfsburg plants, he became Head of Logistics Planning for Volkswagen brand logistics in 1989. In 1994, he was made Head of Logistics at the Emden plant, and in 1996, took over the management of Production there. From 1997 to 1998, Fiebig was responsible for the Emden site as acting plant manager. In 1998, the Management Board of Volkswagen AG appointed him as Technical Director and spokesperson for the management team of Volkswagen in Brussels. From December 2003 to June 2007, Fiebig was Plant Manager in Emden, before becoming Head of Site Management and Vehicle Production at the Wolfsburg plant in 2007. In 2006, Fiebig was awarded the Order of the Crown of Belgium for business relationships, and in December 2010, he was awarded an honorary professorship by Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. Since April 2014, he has held the position of Managing Director for Technology and Logistics, as well as spokesperson for the management team of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH. In future, he will take over the management of small-series activities for the Production, Sales and Marketing, and Finance divisions of the Volkswagen brand worldwide, and will report to the Volkswagen brand group.
