MADRID, Apr. 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Bosch plant located in Madrid has reached 1,000 million sensors manufactured, after the global provider of technology and services began 20 years ago the production of acceleration sensors for the airbag systems that incorporate the vehicles.

These facilities belong to the Automotive Electronics division of the company and they employ around 800 people. The factory was founded in the 1940s and belongs to Bosch since 1978, according to the company.

In 1998, the company started to produce acceleration sensors for the airbag systems in the capital of Spain and three years later it would also take over the manufacture of the ultrasonic sensors.

The latter are responsible for detecting any object that is in the vicinity of the vehicle and are “necessary” for current parking assistance systems, as well as for future systems of ‘Community Parking’ and ‘Automated Valet Parking’.

In the first one, the sensors measure and identify the free parking spaces while the car is traveling on the street. Subsequently, this information is sent to the Bosch cloud, where a digital map is created in real time with the free spaces. Drivers can access this map through the Internet or the navigation system.

On the other hand, the ‘Automated Valet Parking’ allows the vehicle to search for the parking space previously assigned by the infrastructure and to park completely autonomously, once the driver has left the car at the parking entrance.

“We are happy to celebrate this milestone of production in our plant and full of energy and motivation, to continue contributing to the success of Bosch Mobility Solutions,” says the economic vice president of the factory, Tomas Millán.

According to Bosch, currently, the factory in Madrid is the leading plant in the global network for the production of ultrasonic and acceleration sensors, “thanks to its advanced technological position”.
