Barbara Resch was proposed to the board of IG Metall as district manager in Baden-Württemberg

Frankfurt am Main – The district commission of the Baden-Württemberg district has proposed Barbara Resch as the future district manager in a joint process with the first chairwoman Christiane Benner.

Christiane Benner said: “I am pleased that I can recommend a timely successor to Roman Zitzelsberger. The board will make a final decision on the appointment of Barbara Resch as district manager at its meeting in January.”

“I am very pleased that the district commission proposed Barbara Resch as my successor in the presence of our first chairwoman Christiane Benner. A very good and quick decision. In this respect, I expressly support a possible faster change of staff on February 1, 2024,” said Roman Zitzelsberger.

Barbara Resch is currently working as a collective bargaining secretary in the Baden-Württemberg district management. She will present herself to the IG Metall board in January. Based on a proposal from the district commission, this decides on the appointment of the district manager.

The statutes of IG Metall stipulate: §16, point 5:

[…] The district commission has the following tasks:

a) Advice on trade union matters within the district with the district manager and the district secretaries;

b) Audit of the district treasury at least once a quarter;

c) Receive complaints about the activities of the district manager, investigate them and report the results to the board. The decision on the complaint is made by the board;

d) to examine applications for the position of district manager and district secretaries with the district manager and to submit suitable suggestions to the board. The board decides on the appointment.
