HAMBURG (GERMANY), Apr. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

German police have arrested Porsche’s Engine Development Manager, Jörg Kerner, as part of the investigation that the Stuttgart Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out for the alleged involvement of the German firm in the case of manipulation of engine emissions Diesel that came to light in 2015.

As reported by the German publication ‘Bild am Sonntag’, Kerner was arrested on Thursday at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of Stuttgart and is in custody for risk of escape.

The German judiciary believes it played a “key” role in the case of software installed in diesel vehicles that altered nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions when it detected that it was being subjected to laboratory tests. .

The Prosecutor’s Office already ordered two days ago the registration of ten Porsche facilities in the regions of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, in the south of Germany, and considers that a member of the board of directors and a senior manager of the automobile firm would be involved, besides a former employee of the company.

The Stuttgart Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an alleged fraudulent publicity on the emissions of Porsche diesel cars.

In addition, the Audi offices in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm have also been inspected. Last year, the headquarters of the firm of the four rings was already investigated by the Munich Prosecutor’s Office in search of information about the use of ‘software’ that altered vehicle emissions during laboratory tests.
