@Groupe PSA: OP The day of close calls000616

What did we headline last week? “Bye, bye, Bavaria”? After all, we added a question mark to the statement. Because, lo and behold: After an arduous 1-0 win in the catch-up game against Union Berlin during the week and a narrow 3-2 at the weekend in Augsburg, Thomas Tuchel’s team may still lack the usual sovereignty – but it is purely in terms of results back on track. The gap to league leaders Leverkusen has now shrunk to two points as the Werkself were unable to get beyond a 0-0 draw against strong defending Gladbach. Will Munich win the championship trophy again in the end?

As far as Bayern’s victory is concerned, our betting community had no major problems predicting it on matchday 19. However, this match day had a few other events that were difficult to predict. Stuttgart, for example, finally overcame their slump in results caused by the absence of their star striker Serhou Guirassy. His deputy Deniz Undav balled the Swabians to a spectacular 5-2 win against Champions League aspirants Leipzig, who are now in crisis after three defeats in a row. In the Rhine-Main derby, Frankfurt narrowly retained the upper hand with a 1-0 win over Mainz, and the Unioners from Berlin beat Darmstadt just as narrowly in the basement duel. But the most problems were caused by the zero number between Leverkusen and Gladbach, which hardly anyone had on their list.

January’s monthly winner is “Hubert.t”

In January, only three match days have to be used to determine the monthly winner. And his name is “Hubert.t.” Last but not least, his 17 points, which gave him the day’s victory on the tricky 18th matchday, secured him this success. In total he has 46 points, which means an average of 15.3. His closest rivals “Oscher” and “Sak” achieved a total of 15 and therefore 45 points – and crossed the finish line in second and third place. “Oscher” is better in the overall ranking and is therefore officially named runner-up.

In the fight for the day’s victory, in the end three tipsters were at the top with 21 points, so that the placement in the overall ranking once again decides the exact finish. And all three are close together, so this time the freestyle turns out to be just as hairy as some of the referee decisions on this match day. And this is what it looks like: First is “Otte” thanks to 222 points in total, second is “Leonardo” with 215 and third is “frauholle04” with 214 points. It really couldn’t be any tighter.
And the battles for position have also become tough at the top of the overall ranking. “Ditzinger” has now pushed “Vara133” off the throne again, but he is far from gone, nor are a dozen pursuers. It’s going to be quite a hairy affair this season – just like in the Bundesliga.
