CV Show 2024 unveils UK shadow minister and executives in expert seminar series

  • Britain’s biggest commercial vehicle show announces speakers for all-new The Road Ahead seminar programme with expert advice on fleet decarbonisation and more.
  • Speakers include shadow minister, senior executives, regulators and industry experts, covering everything from green fleets and regulatory change to new skills and recruitment.
  • Seminar programme will deliver insight while the Show showcases the products, with hundreds of leading manufacturers and suppliers all gathering under one roof.

The Commercial Vehicle Show has unveiled details of more than 30 industry experts and influencers taking to the stage at its all-new seminar programme, The Road Ahead, as the show opens its doors in just two weeks’ time. An unmissable event in the industry calendar, The Road Ahead will provide insight and analysis on everything from net zero fleets and regulation to workforce upskilling and wellbeing, with 18 speaker and panel sessions taking place across three action-packed days at the NEC in Birmingham from 23-25 April.

The new conference-style event will help fleets keep ahead of the curve in the transition to net zero road haulage, with panel discussions and Q&As featuring leading van and truck OEMs, executives from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, National Highways, the Road Haulage Association and National Grid, plus an opening address from Rt Hon Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Minister for Transport (Roads). Crucially, with the seminar programme held under the same roof and alongside the exhibition, this year’s event is a one-stop shop with attendees also being able to hold one-to-one discussions with exhibitors of the very latest vehicle technology and solutions that align with their business goals and future strategy.

Future planning is now essential given van and light truck sectors are required to meet the same 2035 end-of-sale date. The Road Ahead will provide timely tips and advice for fleets considering the next steps towards decarbonisation, as well as offering direct insight from experts on how to navigate the UK’s fast-changing regulatory landscape. The role of cutting-edge technology, including the use of artificial intelligence in fleet management, is even more paramount in futureproofing your depot sooner rather than later.

Green skills and diverse recruitment are at the core of the transition and The Road Ahead attendees will gain expert analysis on the very best strategies for recruitment, upskilling and workforce wellbeing – allowing employers to hire, train and retain the best talent. The Institute of  Road Transport Engineers will open Day 3 of the conference with a keynote on people and competencies to set the scene on why professionalism and standards are crucial in our industry, and how to shape the skills of the future. There will also be a special stream with would-be young apprentices to discuss the rewarding careers on offer in the sector and what industry can do to attract today’s school leavers – including a try-out of the latest virtual reality technology driving a new generation of cutting-edge training.

With such breadth of seminar sessions, alongside displays and demos of the latest tech, the Commercial Vehicle Show’s exhibitions and seminars represent a must-see opportunity for fleets – of all sizes, types and ambitions – to boost their success as industry change accelerates in 2024 and beyond.

Susan Kitchener, Executive Lead, Commercial Vehicle Show, said,

The CV Show has always been the best place for industry to get a first look at the future of Britain’s fleets, from vehicle and component technology to specialist solutions and services. Now, an all-new seminar programme gives attendees a front row seat to gain expertise from across the sector, helping them to start preparing for their successful future, today.

Recent data from the Commercial Vehicle Show shows it is the place to do business, with exhibitors using last year’s badge-scanning system generating a new business lead every seven seconds. This year, the event will once again deliver the products, with 2024 exhibitors including Ford, Maxus, Isuzu UK, Locks4Vans, VFS, Paneltex, Alphabet, BP and more.
