STATEMENTS

José López-Tafall, general director of ANFAC He indicated that “month after month the electrified vehicle market may grow in volume, but it does not grow in share. It is true that last month it recovered the positive rhythm that had not been obtained in March also due to the seasonal effect of Easter. We will have to wait to see the data for May, but the truth is that the share of the electrified market has stagnated at around 10% of total sales. An insufficient figure to undertake both the emissions reduction objectives and the renewal of the vehicle fleet for a more sustainable and safe one.”

“The objectives set for this year foresee 280,000 electrified passenger cars in 2024: at this rate we can already say that we will not achieve it. It is not just a matter of setting goals, but establishing enabling tools that allow them to be achieved. And, unfortunately, the only news we have this month regarding tools is the ratification that on May 1, aid for the purchase of low and zero emission trucks and buses has ended and we have no news of when there will be new ones again. support for transporters,” says López-Tafall.

Finally, the general director of ANFAC concludes with a further concern that “the MOVES for passenger cars and commercial vehicles is close to ending and we are still waiting for its renewal, without any news about it. The electric vehicle is a real option today, but the sector alone cannot be responsible for the entire ecosystem change that the entire society must make.”
