Sticchi Damiani at Tgcom24Tour relaunches social rental

“The ACI follows, with enormous interest, the idea of a ‘social rental’, on the model of what was implemented in France by President Macron. That is, giving new cars – possibly hybrid and Italian – on long-term rental, with monthly installments lower than industrial costs, to those people who do not have the financial capacity to purchase one”. This is what the President of the Automobile Club of Italy, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, declared, speaking at the round table “Businesses, new professions and mobility”, the Roman stage of the “Tgcom24Tour”.

“The Italian fleet – explained Sticchi Damiani – is the oldest in Europe – we are now at an average age of almost 13 years – and, unfortunately, the first three incentive campaigns did not have a significant impact: we had three and a half million cars in zero euros and that figure has only been reduced by a few thousand. The fact, therefore, that this government has found the resources – as many as 950 million will soon be available – to encourage the replacement of the fleet, really seems like an advantage to me. extraordinary fact.”

Sticchi Damiani also reiterated the need to promote indispensable values such as education and road safety – starting with children and very young people – to support the Italian automotive industry, seeking solutions that also allow jobs to be protected, and to provide for a “soft” entry and not “draconian” in 2035, capable of “combining environmental sustainability with economic and social sustainability” and distinguishing between “historic cars” and “old” cars, to prevent hundreds of thousands of cars that “have no historical value and represent a huge problem, both for safety and for pollution”.
