2024/05/21
PARIS, FRANCE – Nissan has made a significant new Senior Leadership appointment to launch its first electric micro mobility project in the AMIEO region (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania), as the company continues its drive towards a more sustainable future and a more electrified line up.
Gareth Dunsmore, currently Director Marketing & Sales Transformation AMIEO, is appointed Managing Director e-Micro Mobility AMIEO to help drive the disruption needed to support Nissan as it moves into the Arc Mid Term Business Plan, effective 21st May 2024.
Over the past 21 years, Gareth held several strategic positions within Nissan’s Sales & Marketing organization, including Director Electric Vehicle & Zero Emission Strategy, and Vice President Brand & Customer Experience. He will report to Leon Dorssers, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales AMIEO.
In this new role, Gareth will be focusing on driving demand for e-Micro Mobility within Nissan’s retail network and ensuring best-in-class customer experience around smart and flexible ownership solutions.
This appointment supports the company’s ongoing transformation within the AMIEO region and follows the recently announced partnership with Silence, Acciona’s car manufacturer – the leading European brand of electric micro-mobility vehicles designed for cleaner, smarter, more flexible city-living.
Under this new partnership, Nissan will hold distribution rights for the Silence product range, including Silence S04 quadricycle vehicles and electric motorcycles, through its extensive retail network across Europe, starting with France and Italy from June and Germany in September this year.
“Gareth’s appointment as our e-mobility head, reflects the way we are changing our organization with the aim of exploiting exciting opportunities we see for new forms of electro-mobility. We are committed to creating a new era of Nissan leadership of talented individuals within our organization, to address the rapidly evolving expectations of customers in our region and capitalize on the transformation taking place in automotive industry,” said Leon Dorssers, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing in AMIEO.
Dorssers added: “The recently announced partnership with Acciona is an important milestone on that journey. Through such collaborations we want to ensure that we can meet the growing interest from consumers who are keen to experience the excitement and convenience of electric mobility. Silence’s diverse range of outstanding products offers consumers a more accessible step on the ladder to zero emissions mobility.”
Gareth Dunsmore: “I am extremely proud to have been appointed to lead the new e-Micro Mobility function with Nissan’s AMIEO region. I’m excited by the potential that the partnership with Acciona affords us to help more people than ever before move to an electrified mobility solution. Our business is experiencing the biggest transformation the automotive sector has ever witnessed and I’m thrilled to be part of that transformation, bringing new mobility options to a new generation of customers.”
