OpenAI Pushes Back on Larry Ellison’s Description of Oracle Deal
+ OpenAI said it wanted to clarify “inadvertent confusion” about an agreement for the company to use Oracle’s computing infrastructure, noting that it would use that processing power for deploying its models, not training them. + Oracle Executive Chairman Larry Ellison had said Tuesday that Oracle was building large data center space for OpenAI, and that the Nvidia chips in it would be used primarily for training. The OpenAI deal, as well as ones with Alphabet’s Google and Microsoft’s Azure cloud-computing service, helped lift Oracle’s stock more than 11% in early trading following quarterly earnings that missed Wall Street expectations.
