Dürr Introduces Industry-First EcoQPower Paint Shop, Reducing Carbon Footprint by 19.2%

Developed in alignment with EU Taxonomy requirements, the EcoQPower system slashes energy consumption by approximately 21%, positioning Dürr as a pioneer in eco-friendly paint shop solutions.
Paint shops represent a significant energy consumer in vehicle manufacturing, with the application and drying processes being particularly energy-intensive. Despite technological advancements, the industry’s carbon footprint remains substantial, prompting Dürr to innovate a holistic approach to energy management.
Jens Oliver Reiner, Senior Vice President Sales in the Paint and Final Assembly division at Dürr, emphasized the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality, stating, “The EU’s ambitious climate targets demand a paradigm shift in paint shop efficiency. Partnering with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, Dürr conducted a comprehensive life cycle analysis to validate the EcoQPower system’s sustainability claims. The study revealed a staggering 19.2% reduction in carbon emissions over the paint shop’s entire life cycle, affirming the system’s efficacy in mitigating environmental impact.
The EcoQPower system operates on the principle of energy optimization, ensuring each manufacturing area receives precisely the energy and temperature levels required. By integrating waste heat sources and employing heat pumps for simultaneous heating and cooling, Dürr maximizes energy efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
Furthermore, Dürr’s adherence to EU Taxonomy standards underscores its commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices. By providing transparent classification of investments, the EU Taxonomy facilitates funding for projects that promote climate and environmental protection, positioning Dürr as a frontrunner in the race towards a greener future for the automotive industry.
