The budget draft is more painting by numbers than a work of art

“The federal government’s draft budget is a compromise, but unfortunately it is unambitious when it comes to shaping the future. More painting by numbers than a total work of art.

This is not sustainable and only creates short-term prospects. Such a budget does not do justice to the challenges of our time. The parliamentary process should focus on looking forward.

A growth initiative is undoubtedly necessary. However, our understanding of growth is not that people work more under worse conditions. Rather, there are smart regulations and clear rights for part-time employees or immigrant skilled workers. Our understanding of growth is: Companies and their employees get better conditions for innovation and lower energy prices, with which they can position themselves for the future and thus keep well-paid industrial jobs in the country. We are working to ensure that our idea of growth prevails in the design of these key points.”
