The recently revealed Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is a 1,064-hp smack in the faces of supercar elites, Ford will soon be taking on Europe’s best with the Mustang GTD, and Texas-based Hennessey is preparing to show the world that it can do high speed just as well as Bugatti and Rimac, if not better. During a recent engineering testing session, company founder John Hennessey drove a Venom F5 to a speed of 219.07 mph in the standing half-mile, and then test driver David Donahue got behind the wheel and went even faster, achieving a VBOX-verified speed of 221.92. As far as Hennessey and we can tell, this looks like a new half-mile world record.
