Kia records a sales record in Europe in 2017, with 472,125 vehicles, 8.5% more

The car company Kia recorded a record sales in Europe in 2017, with 472,125 new vehicles registered, representing an increase of 8.5% over the previous year, according to data from the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) that collects the signature in a statement.

These results placed Kia with a market share in the ‘Old Continent’ of 3% throughout the past year, also establishing another historical figure for the firm.

According to the company, the range of new models contributed to this growth, including the Stinger two-volume sport saloon, the Stonic compact SUV and the Rio and Picanto models.

“2017 represented a year of change for Kia in Europe, with the launch of a series of important new products.The new generations of our popular compact cars, the Rio and the Picanto, were joined by models in segments in which they never we had a presence, “said Kia Motors Europe Operations Director Michael Cole.

For its part, the company’s hybrid and electric cars almost tripled its sales compared to 2016, representing one in ten vehicles sold in Europe by the firm. The Niro hybrid SUV became the fifth best-selling model of Kia, with 30,986 units registered, in addition to other models that also saw their sales increased, such as the new Niro electric plug-in hybrid, with 2,888 vehicles, and the electric Soul, with 5,718 units, and an increase of 28.5% compared to 2016.
