Last week we participated in the Bilimportørenes Landsforening (BIL) in a useful meeting with our colleagues from sister organizations in the neighboring countries. On the agenda were several highly topical issues within the automotive industry and mobility, with a focus on the future of the industry in light of technological and economic changes.
The cooperation between our organizations is crucial for sharing insights and experiences, as well as for coordinating efforts across national borders. The Nordic car industry faces many of the same challenges, and the meetings provide an opportunity to learn from each other and find joint solutions.
Market update
In the meeting, each organization gave a market update from its market. The Norwegian update was provided by Erik Solum from BIL. He presented an overview of global macroeconomic conditions before going into how it has affected car sales in Norway recently. Economic uncertainty and high interest rates have created challenges in the market, but there are also signs of stabilisation, and we see several positive indicators.

Discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of the automotive industry
In addition to the market update from Solum, another key discussion at the meeting was how artificial intelligence (AI) can help strengthen our organizations and the automotive industry as a whole. AI has already started to play an important role in the automotive industry, in everything from production to customer service, and the potential for further development is great.
The way forward for BIL and cooperation with neighboring countries
The meeting with the sister organizations in our neighboring countries emphasized the importance of cooperation at a time when the car industry is facing major changes. Common challenges such as the transition to electric vehicles, the implementation of AI, and the need for increased sustainability throughout the value chain, make it necessary to share knowledge and experiences.
We at BIL will continue to work closely with our Nordic colleagues to find innovative solutions to the challenges we face. At the same time, we will closely monitor the development of both the market and the technologies that shape the future of mobility.
