“For IG Metall, the priority now is to act quickly and unitedly. The challenges are too great, we cannot afford to tactic or delay given Germany’s industrial location. This is a question of respect for our colleagues. It’s about their future and the future of the German economy.
We now need internationally competitive energy prices, especially for our energy-intensive companies. Otherwise, the climate-friendly restructuring of the steel industry and other sectors will be nipped in the bud. There must be relief in network charges – and capping prices will provide planning security in the future.
Electromobility must be strengthened through sensible framework conditions and tax incentives for commercial and private buyers. A comprehensive and accelerated expansion of the charging infrastructure and cheaper charging current must be created.
As with today’s industrial work summit, we will continue to work constructively and in a solution-oriented manner, in the expectation that this will also be reflected at the political and company level.”
