Euro NCAP: safer vehicles in 2024

Almost all models evaluated in the last Euro NCAP test session of the year score five stars.

Euro NCAP tested the first ever electric pick-up available on the European market: eTERRON 9, produced by the Chinese Maxus. The performance in the tests relating to the protection of pedestrians was positive, overall, it obtained a five-star rating.

The electric version of the Renault 5 and the Alpine A290, although they have slightly lower performance for adult passengers in crash tests, both get a four-star rating.

Euro NCAP tested several SUVs: the Lexus LBX, Volvo EX30 and MINI Countryman all score five stars, while the MG ZS Hybrid scores four stars.

The electrically powered Porsche Macan achieves a five-star safety rating, the same score as the Subaru Forester.

Deepal S07, a vehicle from the Chinese company Changan Auto (which recently started collaborating with Huawei) gets five stars.

The C10 model of the Chinese Leapmotor, (founded in 2015, the third manufacturer of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in China), despite being available in only one version, obtained a five-star rating.

Euro NCAP has awarded the Hyundai SANTA FE a double rating: as standard it gets four stars, but with the safety technologies of the SmartSense package (optional), it reaches five stars.

The Mazda CX-80 achieved the maximum Euro NCAP five-star rating, as did the Audi A5.

Euro NCAP also released the results of the Volkswagen Caddy PHEV version, which shares the five-star rating with the Volkswagen Caddy tested in 2021.
