Shortly before the year 2024 came to an end, Opel had another highlight in store for the international media representatives: the presentation of the new Opel Frontera in Mallorca. Even if the choice of location may seem unusual at first glance, the island has a lot in common with the latest addition to the Rüsselsheim brand’s portfolio.
The new Frontera is family-friendly and offers lots of fun – just like the popular holiday island. “We are very proud of our new Frontera because it makes electrified mobility affordable and has many talents. It is as spacious as an Astra Sports Tourer, offers space for up to seven passengers, is fun to drive and has everything a car in this segment needs,” said Brand Marketing Manager Özgecan Özdemir, who has been preparing the market launch of the Frontera for many months and accompanied.

Press event on site: With charm and know-how, Özgecan Özdemir presented the numerous practical features on board the newcomer.
Always electrified: You can choose between a fully electric version (left) and a highly efficient hybrid drive with 48-volt technology.
The family-friendly SUV offers plenty of space. The rear doors open wide, making access easier.
The 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels are standard on the “GS” equipment line.
The electric Frontera comes with 83 kW/113 hp and a 44 kWh battery. This means a range of up to 305 kilometers is possible.
As was the case at the world premiere of the new SUV in Istanbul, the Turkish native was also one of the main contacts for the many press representatives at the presentation of the newcomer on the island. In the daily press conferences, she highlighted the many advantages of the Frontera and confidently answered the numerous questions.
“It’s always exciting to present a new product to media representatives. We appreciate that journalists sometimes have a different perspective – and we are happy to explain why certain features were included and others were not,” said Özdemir, who was also a popular interviewee in Mallorca thanks to her know-how and vivacious personality.

The hybrid version of the Frontera was presented to media representatives in the color combination of khaki green with a white roof and white rims.
Mallorca offered the best conditions to put the highly efficient hybrid drive with 48-volt technology through its paces.
The “Frontera” logo runs across the rear.
The cockpit is also characterized by its concentration on the essentials.
The variant is powered by a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine developed specifically for hybrid use.
The press responded to the dynamic launch of the new Frontera with hundreds of articles and videos. Some media representatives celebrate the newcomer with euphoria. The ADAC, Europe’s largest automobile club, headlined “Nobody needs more cars”, while Auto Express from Great Britain summarized: “No-frills approach… very refreshing”.
400 media representatives took advantage of the opportunity to test the fully electric and hybrid variants. Many journalists emphasized the focus on the essentials. Other features that received positive feedback include the highly competitive pricing and good value for money, comfortable steering, good chassis and ride comfort, spacious interior, smart storage options including smartphone pockets in the backrests the front seats, and last but not least the large trunk volume.
The Frontera can shoulder up to 240 kilograms of stationary roof load.
This means that the newcomer also invites you to go on a camping holiday with a roof tent.
With a strong product up her sleeve, the brand marketing manager was not deterred when the media event threatened to fail. When hurricane force winds caused a wildfire along the test track just a few hours before the start of the test drives, she remained calm.
“Force majeure is something that we cannot influence. The event team is very experienced and I was confident that they would find a solution,” said Özdemir. Ultimately, the event team found an alternative route, but it was not needed as the fire was quickly contained. With the successful event on Mallorca, the team ensured a brilliant start for the newcomer Frontera.
Frontera hotspot: Opel invited people to the Hotel Kimpton Aysla, 15 minutes away from the capital Palma.
Culinary enjoyment: The hotel restaurant team combines Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.
In-depth discussions: Media representatives were able to ask their questions at the stylish dinner.
Professional team: The experienced event colleagues did not let unforeseen events upset them.
