Microsoft Alumni Network Celebrates 30 Years with Launch of ‘Microsoft Alumni Voices’

Groundbreaking oral history initiative includes interviews with 50 iconic alumni, including Steve Ballmer, Lisa Brummel, Brad Chase, Bob O’Rear, Scott Oki, and Patty Stonesifer

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Microsoft Alumni Network has launched a groundbreaking initiative celebrating its 30th anniversary that documents the never-before-told stories of Microsoft alumni who democratized technology and changed everything.

Microsoft Alumni Voices is a first-of-its-kind effort led by the Microsoft Alumni Network to capture the stories, contributions, and experiences of former Microsoft employees.

Microsoft Alumni Voices uncovers the bold ideas, pivotal moments, and transformative leadership that shaped Microsoft into one of the most successful tech companies in history,” said Manuela Papadopol, executive director of the Microsoft Alumni Network. “More than just the story of Microsoft, this is a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the people who transformed technology—and the world.”

Microsoft Alumni Voices includes more than 100 hours of footage; a digital gallery featuring alumni-submitted videos and photos; and a detailed year-by-year timeline marking notable hires, milestones, and decisions dating back to 1975.

Part 1 of 10 features interviews with Steve Ballmer, Bill Neukom, Bob O’Rear, Scott Oki, and Mark Zbikowski. Subsequent chapters focus on Windows, Xbox, Office, the internet, research and development, cloud computing, Microsoft’s culture and social impact, its Redmond campus and its global expansion. These chapters bring to light stories from Lisa Brummel, Chris Capossela, Brad Chase, Jon Shirley, Steven Sinofsky, Patty Stonesifer, Allison Watson, and others.
