Frankfurt am Main – After completing the explorations between the Union and the SPD, IG Metall wants to increase the pressure on the current coalition negotiations. Under the motto “My workplace. Our industrial country. Our future! ” will take several ten thousand employees nationwide next Saturday, March 15th. You are calling for a government program with a focus on a modern industrial country and a strong welfare state with good and safe jobs.
IG Metall welcomes the planned special fund for investments in the infrastructure of 500 billion euros, but still sees many imponderables on the way. “No special fund has been decided yet, no debt brake has been changed yet,” warns Christiane Benner. “All political forces must now take responsibility so that this central project does not fail. A consensus is now needed for majority -capable measures. We as IG Metall will set a clear sign for this on Saturday. “
Jürgen Kerner, second chairman of IG Metall, warns against distributing the money from the special fund with the watering can instead of investing specifically in future fields: “So far, Union and SPD have only headings. Now it depends on the text of a coalition agreement. Above all, it has to be about existing and new infrastructure, bridges and charging stations to expand the power grids and a competitive industrial current price. It is now important to set the right priorities so that jobs are secured sustainably and new ones are created. We will demand that loudly and audibly on Saturday.
Internal survey shows that pressure on jobs is high
Employment in the metal and electrical industry remains under massive pressure, as an internal survey of IG Metall shows. Many employees are affected by far -reaching dismantling well -paid, tariff -bound industrial workplaces. There are further dismantling plans on the employer side throughout the Republic.
The chairwoman of the union, Christiane Benner, is clear to demands for a large -scale job cuts: “We deliver. Politicians have recognized the seriousness of the situation and wants to act. Now the employers must also clearly commit themselves to the location and the employees. We expect offensive corporate strategies that strive for innovation and growth that maintain and create jobs. ” The union chairman made it clear that there must always be a prerequisite for negotiations for investments and employment security.
The employees face very uncertain future prospects – and with them their families and regions. IG Metall will work for clear perspectives, for trust in our industrial location. “In view of the difficult developments, the employees have the great need to struggle publicly, loudly and audibly for the future of jobs,” continued Benner.
