Frankfurt am Main – With the demand for 6 percent more money and a better partial retirement, IG Metall starts the collective bargaining for the employees for textile service providers. The IG Metall board decided on Tuesday. In the industry, 23,000 employees work nationwide who clean work clothes, for example, in industrial laundries. Over half are directly bound by tariff.
“Due to a high fluctuation and price increases, the colleagues feel that they are turned through the deficiency. Now the time of the company is a valuable commitment to their employees,” says IG Metall negotiator Miriam Bürger. A minimum amount of 180 euros is intended to better put employees with monthly wages under 3,000 euros. In addition, the union calls for the possibility of maintaining and expanding partial retirement.
IG Metall negotiator Miriam Citizens, despite uncertainties, are doing well to very good for the companies. They calculated with stable to growing sales and return numbers. However, a major problem is the shortage of skilled and labor with many vacant areas and high personnel fluctuation.
According to a survey by IG Metall, the workers’ shortage of 85 percent leads to increased stress and illness. A job change from your company is an issue for 60 percent. 87 percent demand better working and training conditions to win offspring. For older employees, 83 percent demand more places for partial retirement.
Miriam Bürger: “Even in his own interest, companies have to make their industry and working conditions more attractive. The employees need a increase in a fee that has washed!”
The first collective bargaining will take place on May 6, 2025 in Frankfurt. In May 31, the tariff peace is required. Warning strikes are possible from June 1, 2025.
