Round Rock Fire Department Wildland Team Receives Advanced Equipment to Combat Wildfires

In a special event, ESD9 unveiled a suite of state-of-the-art wildland firefighting equipment to the Round Rock Fire Department Wildland Team—marking a major investment in wildfire response and prevention. The surprise reveal included a Polaris Utility Task Wildlands Vehicle, a purpose-built command center trailer, and a specialized firefighting truck—all tailored to address the unique challenges of wildland firefighting in Williamson County’s varied terrain. The equipment was designed and built by FarrWest, a premier provider of equipment, service, and training to the First Responder industry.

“As the area develops, the risk of wildfires remains a concern, and firefighting strategies must adapt to the changing landscapes. We’re so grateful for ESD9 gifting us with a cutting-edge fleet of wildland firefighting gear. It’s a huge step forward in protecting our community,” said Chief Shane Glaiser of Round Rock Fire Department.

With Williamson County identified as one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas, the need for rapid, agile, and effective wildfire response capabilities is critical. These new tools will greatly enhance operational capacity, situational coordination, and firefighter safety during wildland incidents.

“Wildfires are occurring more frequently – they’re an ongoing threat that disrupts every corner of our county,” said Alan Forster, ESD9 Commissioner. “This investment emphasizes our unwavering commitment to ensuring our firefighters are equipped and ready to meet today’s challenges head-on.”

Through continued support of proactive training, cutting-edge equipment, and strategic planning, ESD9 remains focused on safeguarding the community and empowering its emergency responders with the resources they need so that residents receive the highest level of fire protection.
