@Toyota: Toyota Tsusho Foods Corporation Makes Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods Ltd. a Wholly Owned Subsidiary

2025-05-14

Toyota Tsusho Corporation (“Toyota Tsusho”) announced that Toyota Tsusho Foods Corporation (“Toyota Tsusho Foods”), its subsidiary, made the decision to acquire all shares of Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods Ltd. (“Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods”), a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (“Mitsui & Co.”), and make it a wholly owned subsidiary as of June 2, 2025.

Following the acquisition, Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods will be renamed “Toyota Tsusho Agri Foods Corporation” (“Toyota Tsusho Agri Foods”) and is scheduled to be integrated into Toyota Tsusho Foods within this fiscal year.

Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods is a specialized food trading company that handles agricultural products such as rice, soybeans, peanuts, and nuts. It has strengths in the rice business, which accounts for 60% of its sales, and possesses excellent product development capabilities and a wide sales network, collaborating with major supermarkets and convenience store chains for product development.

The purpose of this integration is to diversify business operations and enhance corporate value through further growth by merging Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods with Toyota Tsusho Foods.

Currently, Toyota Tsusho Foods handles a wide variety of food products, including meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, soybeans, wine, seasonings, and processed foods. The acquisition of Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods’ rice business is expected to further expand its business foundation. Additionally, for products handled by both companies–such as soybeans, peanuts, and nuts–creating synergies will enable the expansion of market share and accelerate global business development. Furthermore, the integration of Toyota Tsusho’s high-yield rice variety “Shikiyutaka” and Toyota Tsusho Foods’ processed food business with Mitsui & Co. Agri Foods’ product development capabilities and sales network will be considered, aiming to provide valuable products to society.
