In Eindhoven, Opel ignites the future turbo: With spectacular drifts and with great applause, the Mokka GSE Rally celebrates its world premiere at Ele Rally in the Netherlands-and steals the show even the Spanish cup winner Alex Español. The 280-horsepower racer with 345 Newton meters of torque does not drive for points, but directly into the hearts of the fans.
The new Power Stromer from Rüsselsheim is not satisfied with a leisurely swap. Volker Strycek, Opel routine and motorsport legend, bravely beats the prototype-as part of the ongoing development program-over the treacherous asphalt tests around Eindhoven. The result: a foretaste of what could be possible in customer sport from the 2026 rally season. State-of-the-art motorsport technology with power and top performance.
“It not only looks strong: I am sure that the Mokka GSE Rally gives a great figure on the track.”
-Cup participant Kilian Nierenz-
“Opel and the ADAC have been showing that electrical rallying enthusiastically-and works,” says Opel CEO Florian Huettl. “Our Mokka GSE Rally gives a view of a fully electric rally vehicle of the next generation.” And you can see that. A light grid tube frame, a slimmed down, finely coordinated bilstein suspension, lamella blocking differential, racing gear and no driving aids-here the driver rules, not the electronics.
Stronger, faster, uncompromising
The Mokka GSE Rally is trimmed for top performance-and also enthusiastic about the passenger seat: Opel marketing chief Rebecca Reinermann dares to ride on the side of Volker Strycek and then raves about the “electrical thrill”. The GSE prototype fits perfectly with the brand’s sporting tradition, she says-and promises fans “real OMG! GSE moments”. The battery? Close to series, with a capacity of 54 kWh. The software for battery and engine management? Motorsport-optimized.

The other cup participants are also enthusiastic. The German Kilian Nierenz, third-placed at the season start in Sulingen, says: “It looks strong, the performance data is impressive.” Even the Corsa Rally Electric with its great balance is a fun maker with grip and torque. The Mokka GSE Rally is now adding again – with significantly more punch: “I am sure that it will give a great figure on the special tests.” Nierenz is already looking forward to a test drive.
“Opel is a pioneer of electrical rally. We are proud of this role.”
-Opel motor sports director Jörg Schrott-
Yellow brake calipers at the front, yellow rims in the back: The Opel Mokka GSE Rally also optically rally accents.
Roll cage, rally seats with six-point belts, battery capsung and underrun protection-security is very important.
Lamella blocking differentials, racing gears, reinforced drive shafts and wheel hubs-the result: propulsion with force.
The rally demonstration vehicle newly developed by Opel sets standards in every respect: it is the world’s first rally vehicle that is developed according to the new Erally5 regulations of the FIA. The Automobile Sports World Association and the Opel Motorsport Department, based in Paris, have long been in close exchange. The blueprint for the world’s first electric rally regulations comes from Rüsselsheim.
Reunion is guaranteed
For Jörg Schrott, Motorsport Director at Opel, the message of the world premiere is clear: “The Mokka GSE Rally leaves a strong impression in Eindhoven and has caused a lot of sensation internationally.” The extensive development program is continued. Because: “Opel is a pioneer of electrical rally. We are proud of this role,” emphasizes Schrott. A reunion with the new prototype is guaranteed: it will be a pre -vehicle for all other runs of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup.
