Rock am Ring is a myth. And the myth lives. Tens of thousands of rock fans flock to the Nürburgring for the 40th time – what a festival! Even the weather god is in a party atmosphere and at least serves a few sun rays at the start of the festival. Right in the middle: Opel. As an exclusive automobile partner of Rock am Ring, the brand with lightning with its own headliner is at the start: the Opel Frontera. Not only the rock fans transform the meadows around the Nürburgring into a tent city-to match the festival feeling, the Opel SUV also wears a roof tent.
Welcome to the Opel Lounge, where many rock fans sniff the Frontera. Make selfies. Chill in deck chairs and load the batteries of your phones. The good mood also convinces Opel Germany brand boss Patrick Dinger: “Opel at Rock am Ring-that is an extraordinary experience.” While the headliners inspire the crowd on the stages, car fans electrify the Frontera and the Opel lounge. “Our robust SUV is like the music on these three days: clear, directly, courageous – the festival is the ideal environment for our newcomer, who has recently been with the dealer,” Patrick Dinger sends afterwards.

In addition to the Frontera, the roof tent is particularly marveled at. “Cool that Opel also has something on offer,” says Sven from Cologne, who, like around 95 percent of all visitors, on the festival site. The Opel accessories also cope with the adverse weather. Because: On the second day of the festival, another act takes over the main role: the rain. Shields, jackets and rubber boots as far as the eye can see. Sven doesn’t bother that. It is one of them. Like many others, the Cologne team praises the good organization on site. This in turn, Marc from the Orga Team Rock am Ring is pleased. “There is damn a lot of work and passion in this festival,” he says.
A good 10,000 people work behind and in front of the scenes to make Rock am Ring an unforgettable festival. It was particularly unforgettable for Tim: he pulled the big lot in the Opel competition. Two tickets, camping, first row – and his first rock on the ring ever. Together with buddy André, he chills a round in the deck chairs in the Opel Lounge and says that he founded a rock band in teenage. Music has accompanied him since youth.
“Opel and Rock am Ring go together perfectly – both are super traditional and have inspired people for generations.”
– Philipp Schmitt, Opel Product Manager –
International and national bands such as Korn, Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, The Prodigy, Kontra K, Rise Against, Beatsteaks and Biffy Clyro are the headliners on the big stages. But the festival can not only be loud. Rock am Ring creates encounters that are remembered. “We want to be close-at the community, on the feedback,” says Opel Marketing Director Cristiano Colaiacomo. “And we succeeded: in the middle of the festival. Directly.
The Rüsselsheim team on site: how well the Opel engagement is at the celebrating things, of which Opel representatives such as Opel Germany brand boss Patrick Dinger (back, 3rd from left) and Cristiano Colaiacomo, marketing director Germany, (kneeling, middle) were also convincing.
