Frankfurt am Main/Göttingen – They deliver laundry for clinics and nursing homes, cleaning workwear for industry, healthcare, gastronomy and public services: Because of warning strikes of the employees in the textile service providers, the supply of large laundry is delayed.
On Monday, July 7th, employees in the industry will draw attention to their situation nationwide for the fourth collective bargaining in Göttingen. Among other things, IG Metall demands 6 percent more money. With over 5000 warning strikers so far, the union has a higher participation than in the past.

“Employees in large-scale laundry work in the low-wage area and are systematic with their work for public health and hygiene. But no relevance, but they are apparently currently with their employers with a view to appreciation,” says IG Metall negotiator Miriam Bürger. “We are ready to finish, but not at all costs.”
IG Metall demands 6 percent more money a month and at least 180 euros for the lower wage groups. Those burdened by heat and stress also expect improved partial retirement regulation. However, according to IG Metall, employers still offer an lean offer that should only take effect from 2026: from January 1st at least 50 euros or 1.9 percent a month and from 2027 2.2 percent higher wages. The top-up amounts for partial retirement employees should be raised slightly, but not the number of entitlements.
